On Sunday morning, a 13-year-old boy from Oravac near Bjelovar suffered serious injuries while riding an electric scooter with a blood alcohol level of 2 promille. He crashed into a concrete bridge and was hospitalized with severe facial and brain injuries. Doctors from the Children’s Traumatology Clinic in Zagreb report that the boy is now conscious and his condition is improving, but the recovery will be long and uncertain. The biggest fear is the consequences of brain injury, which in children can last for months or even years. Doctors emphasize that wearing a helmet is crucial to reduce the severity of injuries, but unfortunately, the boy was not wearing one. The parents now say they would never buy an electric scooter for their child again, especially not without a helmet. This tragedy is a warning to everyone to seriously consider children’s safety and the dangers of riding scooters under the influence of alcohol. If you think riding a scooter without a helmet is harmless, think again — a helmet can save a life! So, have you or your kids ever ridden a scooter under the influence?
