DPS Strengthens Party Infrastructure as Montenegro Balances Between Historical Revisionism and Economic Growth

DPS in Full Swing: New Executive Board and the Battle Against Historical Revisionism!

Today, the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) showed it’s not sitting on its hands! At a recent presidency meeting led by Danijel Živković, a new executive board was elected. Among the appointees are Andrija Radman, Miroslav Popović, Lazar Mijanović, and about a dozen others who, according to DPS, will be pillars in strengthening the party infrastructure.

But it wasn’t just about personnel. The presidency clearly condemned the current government for, as they say, endangering state interests through attempts at historical revisionism and a constant crisis of Montenegro’s independence idea. DPS positions itself as the protector of the fundamental values of modern Montenegro and promises to fight for them with all its might.

Economy? There are bright spots too!

While DPS strengthens its ranks, Montenegro is recording a real GDP growth of 3% in the first quarter of this year, surpassing the EU and Eurozone averages. Novica Vuković from the Ministry of Finance highlights that the growth is supported by a strong rise in private consumption and foreign direct investments. Unemployment has dropped to a record low of 9.91%, and inflation is under control. Public debt has been reduced to 56.2% of GDP, and the budget deficit cut to 0.5%.

This economic success comes amid political tension and a fight to preserve state values, showing how complex and dynamic the situation in Montenegro is.

What does this tell us?

DPS is not giving up its role as the guardian of Montenegro’s independence and state interests, while the country simultaneously strives to stay on the path of economic development and European integration. But is this fight for “historical truth” just a political trick or genuine concern for the state? And how will all this affect the daily lives of citizens?
