72 People Detained After Nighttime Blockades in Serbia: Police Clear the Streets!

Ready for a night of chaos and blockades shaking Serbia? In the last 24 hours, Serbian police didn’t waste a second – 72 people were detained! Yes, you read that right, seventy-two! Out of those, 64 were caught for misdemeanors and 8 for criminal offenses. All this happened while a whopping 87 traffic blockades raged across Serbia, most of which were removed, but not without a fight.

In Belgrade, the chaos hotspot, traffic was blocked at 68 out of 71 public gathering spots. Police had to respond to incidents in Zemun, Niš, Novi Sad, and Valjevo. No joke – some blockade participants even injured four police officers and damaged an official police vehicle. Is this a fight for rights or just uncontrolled mayhem?

The Ministry of Interior urges citizens to refrain from any illegal activities and traffic blockades that endanger the safety of all road users. But will this plea be enough to stop the wave of blockades and unrest?

As Serbia grapples with these challenges, the question remains – what’s next? Will the police keep a firm hand or will public discontent find new ways to make its voice heard? One thing’s clear: these blockades aren’t just a traffic problem, they’re a sign of deeper social tensions that can’t be ignored.
