Deadly A52: The Road That Took Diogo Jota’s Life and Many Others

The A52 road in Spain, where Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota tragically lost his life, is known as one of the most dangerous stretches in the region. Local officials and drivers have been warning for years about the hazards lurking on this road – blind curves, potholes, poor night visibility, and frequent animal obstacles. Just last year, this road recorded more traffic accidents than any other nearby route, many of which were fatal.

Angel Blanco, a representative of the central government in the Zamora province, described the A52 as a “very dangerous” road. Local sources from the Sernadilla city council, near the accident site, highlight that poor visibility at night is a major cause of crashes. Sadly, Diogo Jota is not the only victim – his brother Andre also died on this road, and the number of anonymous victims is rising.

This stretch is also known as a “black spot” due to frequent collisions with animals like wolves and deer, further endangering drivers. Despite numerous complaints and demands for improvements, the situation remains unchanged. Last year alone, over 40 official complaints were filed in just one month about potholes and poor road conditions.

This road is dangerous not only because of physical obstacles but also due to inadequate response from authorities. Drivers face daily risks that could be prevented if safety measures were implemented in time. How many more lives will be lost before something concrete is done?

If you’ve ever driven on the A52, you know how stressful and dangerous it is. And if you haven’t, maybe it’s time to think twice before taking this “deadly” route. Got any stories about this road? Or some tips for drivers? Drop a comment and let’s see who survived and who didn’t!
