Terazijska Terrace Finally Gets a Green Park – Belgrade Awakens from Urban Slumber!

Belgrade’s Terazijska Terrace, long neglected and forgotten urban gap, is finally getting what it deserves – a green corridor and park connecting Prizrenska and Karađorđeva streets. Inspired by global icons like New York’s High Line and Paris’s Promenade Plantée, this project is a true urban revolution in the heart of the capital.

Imagine a nearly 400-meter-long park with a 40-meter elevation difference, where every step reveals new views of the Sava River, the New Belgrade amphitheater, and the historic city core. This is not just a park – it’s a new urban oasis accessible to everyone, including people with reduced mobility, children, cyclists, and pet lovers.

The architectural bureau ARCS, led by Branko Redžić, designed a concept that maximally preserves existing greenery and supplements it with native species that will improve the city’s microclimate year-round. Flowers, fruits, and sculptural forms will be a constant decoration of this space.

The park will feature different zones – from quiet resting areas to active zones with an outdoor gym, skate park, children’s playground, and jogging track. The highest part of the park will be a venue for events and gatherings, offering breathtaking panoramic views.

Urban furniture, lighting, and other elements will be designed to blend seamlessly into the environment, meeting the highest standards of safety and comfort.

This project is not just an aesthetic intervention but a response to current climate challenges and the need for social inclusion in urban space. Terazijska Terrace is finally emerging from the shadow of urban neglect and becoming a place that belongs to everyone – Belgraders and visitors alike.

If you thought Belgrade was stuck in the past, think again! This park proves that even the most neglected parts of the city can be transformed into green oases that breathe and live. So, are you ready to stroll through Belgrade’s new green heart? Or will you keep watching through the window and longing for the old days? Share your thoughts – maybe your idea will be the next step in urban development!
