Dačić on Belgrade Blockades: Police Protect the City, Blockaders Create Chaos

This morning in Belgrade was pure drama! While blockades choked traffic, Interior Minister Ivica Dačić was busy calming nerves, claiming police are on top of their game and only allowed gatherings in spots that don’t matter much for the city’s functioning. Dačić explained that all bridges and key roads in Belgrade were running smoothly, and police stopped three attempts to block Brankova Street and Branko’s Bridge. Of course, there was the usual talk about “no excessive force” — police only stepped in when officers were attacked or duties obstructed. Still, during yesterday’s blockades, police used batons at several locations, all documented and under internal MUP review. Dačić warned these blockades endanger normal life and city operations, promising police will stay ready to act. Bottom line: Belgrade was on the edge of a traffic meltdown today, and the government and police are dead set on not letting blockaders take over the city. So, what do you think about these blockades? Is the police too soft or too harsh? Drop a comment and let’s see where everyone stands!
