25 Years Since Todor Gardašević’s Murder: Zemun Clan’s Bloody Legacy

Bloody Anniversary: 25 Years Since Todor Gardašević’s Murder!

Did you know it’s been 25 years since the brutal murder of controversial Budva businessman Todor Gardašević? Yes, a whole quarter of a century! On the promenade near Belgrade’s Hotel Jugoslavija, 44-year-old godfather of Andrija Drašković, Todor was executed at point-blank range. And not just anyone – the perpetrators were members of the notorious Zemun Clan, led by Sretko Kalinić, who received multi-decade prison sentences for this and many other crimes.

Who killed Todor?

According to the indictment, Kalinić approached Gardašević around 9 PM and fired eight shots from a 9mm pistol, hitting him in the limbs, torso, and head. Other accomplices – brothers Miloš and Aleksandar Simović, Vladimir Milisavljević aka Vlada Budala, Dušan Krsmanović, and Nikola Bajić – tracked the victim’s movements and helped carry out the crime. The murder was ordered by Zemun Clan leaders Dušan Spasojević and Mile Luković.

The Hellish Plan and Bloody Execution

Dejan Milenković Bagzi, a former cooperating witness, revealed details: the murder was planned so that Nikola Bajić would drive a combat vehicle Golf 3, usually used only for kidnappings, while Kalinić was to carry out the hit. After the murder, Kalinić destroyed the weapon by melting it down in a workshop.

Family Drama and Injustice

Todor’s father, Ranko Gardašević, testified in court that he heard someone was demanding to reveal where Andrija Drašković was hiding, allegedly the reason for his son’s murder. Ranko was disappointed that Drašković did not attend the funeral, memorial, or visit Todor’s grave.

The victim’s wife, Garsija, did not appear in court due to fear for her and her children’s lives. During the investigation, she claimed she did not know who killed her husband and that no one had threatened her.

Zemun Clan – Bloody Trails and Multi-Decade Sentences

Sretko Kalinić and other Zemun Clan members were sentenced to multi-decade prison terms for this and other crimes. This case is just one of many shedding light on the dark side of crime in Serbia and the region.

Why Does This Still Matter?

Because 25 years later, stories of mafia, bloody clashes, and injustice still echo through the streets of Belgrade and Budva. Todor Gardašević is not just a statistic – he is a symbol of an era and a system where power and blood went hand in hand.

If you think this is just another story from the past, think again. The mafia still has its fingers in many pies today, and justice often comes late or not at all.

So, what do you think? Who’s to blame for these crimes? Has justice ever been served? Drop a comment, share your thoughts, or just throw in a sarcastic smile – stories like this shouldn’t be forgotten!
