Chaos at Thompson’s Concert in Zagreb: 44 Arrested, 16 Injured, and 91 Fireworks Seized

Picture this: thousands of people flooding Zagreb’s hippodrome to hear Marko Perković Thompson, but instead of music, we get chaos straight out of a movie script! Before the concert, police arrested a whopping 44 people — one for disturbing public order and 43 for illegal use of fireworks. Yes, you read that right, 91 pieces of fireworks were confiscated! As if that wasn’t enough, emergency services responded 63 times, and 16 people sought medical help for everything from allergic reactions to serious injuries, including a man with an open head wound who fell near the hippodrome entrance.

Police and firefighters had to quickly extinguish a small fire on the embankment, and one minor was detained in connection with the incident. All this while music played on stage that, according to some reports, sparked controversy due to nationalist tones and songs that shocked many.

Organizers claim around 200,000 people attended the concert — a number that sounds like it’s straight out of a sci-fi movie — while police did not specify the exact attendance. Interior Minister Davor Božinović called the event “historic” and emphasized that all services were ready to monitor the situation on the ground.

But let’s be real — is this really a celebration or chaos that could have been prevented? Fireworks, mass brawls, injuries, and even a fire! All in the heart of Zagreb. If you thought concerts were just for fun, think again. This event showed how easily things can spiral out of control.

So now, while everyone wonders what’s next, tell us — is this the price we pay for “big gatherings” and “celebrations”? Or is it time for clearer rules and stricter control? Drop a comment, share your story, or just crack a joke about this madness. Admit it, scenes like this aren’t for the faint-hearted!
