This morning, a tragic accident shocked everyone on the A3 highway near Lipovljani. An unidentified man, crossing the highway on foot, was fatally hit by a car with Kutina license plates. The vehicle was driven by a 48-year-old Croatian citizen traveling from Zagreb towards Lipovac. The victim’s body was transported to the General Hospital Sisak for an autopsy. Police conducted an investigation and submitted a report to the competent state prosecutor’s office.
This tragedy is not an isolated case of violence on our roads. At the same time, police arrested a man overnight on suspicion of the brutal murder of a woman in Pakoštane. The victim, a 46-year-old Slovak woman, died after a 51-year-old Slovak man inflicted multiple blows with his bare hands in a rented apartment. This femicide case has further shaken the public, with the suspect detained and criminal charges filed against him.
In another police operation, dangerous items were found in the car of one of the suspects, including four magazines for an automatic rifle caliber 7.62×39 mm, various ammunition, and a hunting knife with a 15 cm blade. Three men were arrested as part of an extensive criminal investigation, and one of them has already been sentenced to the maximum prison term for a previous sixfold murder.
It is clear that safety on our roads and in society is on shaky ground. As tragedies pile up, the question arises: how safe are we really, and what is being done to prevent such incidents? Police and the judiciary are doing their job, but is it enough? Share your thoughts—maybe your idea could spark the change we desperately need!
