A horror story unfolded in Lazarevac that will leave you breathless! Slobodan M., a 28-year-old man, is suspected of the brutal murder of 70-year-old Zoran L. on June 20 this year. But wait, that’s not all – this same Slobodan was already convicted four years ago for a fatal traffic accident! Yes, you read that right – a man who once took a life is now accused of another, and in the most gruesome way possible.
The police are still searching the Kolubara mining area for the remaining parts of the unfortunate Zoran’s body, as the suspect dismembered the body and threw it into the Kolubara river. The right and left legs of the victim were found on June 23 and 24, but other parts are still missing. Slobodan allegedly abused Zoran’s trust, persuaded him to drive to the abandoned mines, where he physically killed him, then dismembered and dumped the body in the river.
After the crime, Slobodan went to a parking lot where he left Zoran’s unlocked Citroen, took his mobile phone, and then went to a car wash to clean his Ford Focus. All this while the police are hunting for body parts and trying to unravel this chilling case.
The Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade questioned Slobodan, who remained silent and exercised his right not to defend himself. The prosecution proposed detention due to the risk of influencing witnesses or repeating the crime, and because of public outrage. This case has caused a huge stir and shocked the public, as it involves a brutal murder committed by someone already convicted of causing a death.
This is not just a story about one crime but about a system that failed to prevent a person with such a past from harming others again. How is it possible that someone previously convicted of causing death in a traffic accident is free and commits such a monstrous crime? Is justice truly served?
As the police continue searching for the rest of the body and the investigation unfolds, a bitter taste remains for all of us. This story forces us to question the safety of our communities and how effective the system is in protecting citizens.
If you have thoughts on this chilling case or believe justice has failed, feel free to drop a comment. Maybe it’s time we all shake things up and demand answers! Who knows, your word might just spark a wave of change.
