Total Chaos in Zagreb After Thompson Concert: City Gridlocked, Traffic Nightmare!

Total Chaos in Zagreb After Thompson Concert!

Imagine this: thousands of people leaving Marko Perković Thompson’s concert at the Zagreb Hippodrome, and the city turns into a traffic nightmare! The Freedom Bridge is completely jammed, streets around the hippodrome are impassable, and the traffic jams are so massive that even the most patient drivers can’t believe what’s happening.

Traffic regulation phases? More like phases of madness!

The Ministry of the Interior activated three phases of temporary traffic regulation to try to ease the dispersal of the crowd. Major roads like Dubrovnik Avenue, Remetinec roundabout, Adriatic Avenue, Youth Bridge, and many others were closed. Tram traffic continued, thankfully, but it didn’t help much as roads around the hippodrome were at a standstill.

Detour routes? Welcome to the maze!

Drivers were redirected to detour routes that honestly seemed designed to confuse them even more. Main routes used the bypass, while alternative routes avoided highways, but that didn’t stop the chaos. Streets like Islandska, Većeslav Holjevac Avenue, Savska Street, and others were packed with vehicles barely moving.

What about the pedestrians?

Thousands of people tried to walk through the crowd, some even tried to leave before the last song thinking they’d avoid the traffic collapse, but no luck. Videos show huge groups of pedestrians moving through blocked streets while drivers sit in their cars staring blankly.

Water for fans? Yes, but not so easy!

At Vukovarska Street and near the bus station, there were tanks with drinking water, and hydrants marked with balloons saying “drinking water.” But inside the concert area, no tanks were available, and water bottles cost a whopping five euros! Is that fair to fans who came to enjoy the music, not to be thirsty and stuck in traffic?

The bottom line?

After this concert, Zagreb looked like it suffered a traffic apocalypse. Is it possible to organize such events better, or will we keep seeing the same chaos scenes? If you were there, you probably have something to say – and if not, maybe think twice before heading to the next big concert in the city.

Now, drop a comment below – was this the worst traffic chaos in Zagreb or have you seen worse? And who’s to blame for this total collapse? Let the debate begin!
