Trump’s Peace Mission: Hero or Self-Promoter?
Former US President Donald Trump just can’t stop bragging about his “incredible” diplomatic achievements. In the past few months, his administration claims to have worked on resolving conflicts worldwide – from India and Pakistan, through Israel and Iran, to the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda, and even the relations between Belgrade and Pristina.
Peace for Sale
At the NATO summit in The Hague, Trump declared a “huge breakthrough” in resolving the conflict between D.R. Congo and Rwanda, which, according to him, ended a decades-long war. He also emphasized that the world is “turning back” to the United States, something that, he claims, did not happen during his successor Joe Biden’s administration.
But is it really so? Critics argue that Trump’s claims are exaggerated and that his role in these processes is far from heroic.
Nobel Prize for Himself?
Trump even stated that he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize – not once, but four or five times! He cites cases like Congo, Serbia and Kosovo, India and Pakistan as proof of his diplomatic genius.
Belgrade and Pristina: Old Problem, New Trump
He particularly highlighted the US engagement in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, claiming his administration prevented an escalation of the conflict. However, this dialogue remains full of challenges and uncertainties, and critics believe Trump uses this process for political promotion.
Global Peacemaker or Self-Promoter?
While Trump celebrates his “successes,” the world remains skeptical. Has peace really been achieved, or is this just another political show?
Conclusion
Trump’s story about peace achievements sounds like a Hollywood script, but reality is often much more complicated. While he seeks recognition and awards, the world wonders – is this really the end of conflicts or just the beginning of a new phase of political games?
