Storm Chaos in Croatia: Fierce Winds and Rain Wreak Havoc Nationwide

Just when you thought you’ve seen it all, Croatia got slammed today by weather that’s not for the faint-hearted! Fierce storms, rain, and wind have taken over Zagreb and other parts of the country. Orange alerts are up in the regions of Rijeka, Osijek, Split, Istria, Kvarner, and Dalmatia, while the rest of the country shivers under a yellow warning. Temperatures have dropped by more than 10 degrees compared to yesterday, and the wind has been breaking shutters and knocking down trees in the capital. This cold front isn’t just a passing nuisance — meteorologists warn the bad weather will last through tomorrow, with possible local downpours, thunderstorms, and even hail.

The situation is especially serious in Slavonia, Istria, Kvarner, and Dalmatia, where orange alerts warn of potentially dangerous weather conditions. Around 10 a.m. this morning, Zagreb was hit by a real storm with thunder and strong winds that broke everything in their path. Videos show the wind carrying away everything in its way, and the rain pouring like the sky has burst open.

But it’s not just Zagreb under attack — stormy weather also hit the Sisak-Moslavina County, Popovača, Sunja, and Dvor areas, where power outages occurred due to damage to power lines. In Križevci, Koprivnica, and Rijeka, over 30 reports of fallen power poles and trees have caused supply interruptions and traffic problems.

Meteorologists warn that on Tuesday, showers and thunderstorms will be locally more intense, accompanied by heavy rainfall, hail, and strong storm winds. Temperatures will drop to a pleasant 21 to 25 degrees Celsius, a real change from the previous heatwaves with temperatures up to 40 degrees in southern and eastern Serbia.

This isn’t just any rain — it’s the kind of weather that makes people wonder if they forgot their umbrellas or just left them at home thinking summer means sun and beach. Nope, nature decided to bare its teeth and remind us who’s boss.

If you thought traffic in Zagreb was already chaotic enough, think again! Roadworks on main roads combined with rush hour and traffic accidents have caused a total collapse. Slavonska Avenue is red with traffic jams, and drivers wonder if they’ll ever reach their destinations.

So, if you’re in Croatia today, brace yourself for an adventure — rain, wind, traffic chaos, and power outages are the new normal. And if you have a good joke about the weather or traffic, feel free to share it — we all need a laugh while waiting for the storm to calm down!

In short, Croatia is under siege by weather that picks no place or time. Keep an eye on forecasts, stay safe, and remember — nature is always stronger, but we sure know how to have fun watching it rage!
