Just when you thought you’ve seen it all, Croatia got slammed by a storm that literally smashed everything in its path! A fierce storm with hail the size of walnuts, strong winds, and heavy rains knocked down trees, snapped power poles, and left dozens of neighborhoods in the dark. Yes, you read that right – people were left without electricity because power lines broke like toothpicks!
In the Sisak-Moslavina County, especially in Popovača, Sunja, Dvor, and nearby areas, the situation is catastrophic. The city of Sisak received about ten reports of fallen power poles and trees blocking roads, and in Dvor, several settlements lost power. The troubles didn’t stop there – Primorje-Gorski Kotar County reported strong winds in Rijeka that toppled trees, damaged buildings and vehicles, while Koprivnica-Križevci County got around 15 reports of downed power poles and trees.
To make matters worse, the Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service (DHMZ) issued multiple warnings due to extreme weather conditions. Temperatures plunged by up to 15 degrees Celsius, and storms with hail and thunder continue to rage, especially in the western parts of the country. The Adriatic coast is battered by strong south and southwest winds, with some areas hit by fierce bora gusts.
This isn’t just some rain and wind – it’s total chaos! People are wondering what’s next because nature seems to be baring its teeth. Is this just the beginning, or will the next storms completely throw us off track?
If you thought summer would be calm and sunny, think again. Power outages, damaged infrastructure, and dangerous weather are the new normal. So, what do you think – is it time to get serious about preparing for these weather shocks, or will we keep pretending everything’s fine until we’re left in the dark and without water? Drop a comment and let’s see who’s ready for the next storm!
