Have you heard about the latest chaos in northern Kosovo? The Serbs have raised their voices against the construction of new bridges over the Ibar River, announced by Albin Kurti and his government! Yes, you read that right – bridges! But not just any bridges, these are the ones that, according to the Serbian List and local residents, bring only harm to the Serbian community.
It all started in front of the Serbian List offices in North Mitrovica, where the collection of signatures for a petition against these “Kurti’s bridges” began. Despite the petition being named “against the construction of Kurti’s bridges,” within just a few hours, over 1500 people lined up to sign and clearly say NO to unilateral decisions that threaten their lives and community.
The president of the Serbian List, Zlatan Elek, clearly stated that this is a united stance of the Serbian people in Kosovo. They do not accept decisions made without their consent, which could lead to further divisions and problems in the region.
Why are these bridges such a big problem? According to the Serbian List, these are not just infrastructure projects but political moves that could change the demographic and political landscape of northern Kosovo. The Serbs fear that these bridges will facilitate Pristina’s control over the north, further endangering their security and rights.
This situation is not just a local issue – it reflects a broader conflict between Serbs and Kosovo Albanians, where every decision can ignite an already tense atmosphere. While the authorities in Pristina boast about infrastructure projects, the Serbs on the ground are organizing and clearly stating they will not stay silent.
If you think bridges are just bridges, think again. These bridges are symbols of power, control, and conflict. And the Serbs in northern Kosovo are ready to fight for their right to decide their own fate.
So, what do you think? Are these really just bridges, or are they bridges to further conflict? Drop a comment, share your thoughts, and see you in the next round of this bridge battle!
