SEP: Government in Montenegro Enforces Repression Instead of Protecting Citizens

Have you ever seen a government that, instead of protecting its citizens, decides to brutally crush them? Welcome to Montenegro 2024! The European Progress Party (SEP) has raised its voice against the violent intervention against peaceful citizens protesting what they call the politicization and abuse of the July 13th Award – a symbol of the fight for freedom and justice. Instead of being guardians of the constitution and democratic values, some state officials have become symbols of mocking the historical struggle of the Montenegrin people. Is it possible that those who should protect freedom have become its greatest enemies?

SEP clearly alludes to the leaders of the parliament and the security sector, who under the roof of institutions meant to protect the people, are carrying out violence against their own citizens. Is this a scene from a bad movie or reality? The double standards of Mandić, Šaranović, and Bečić, hiding behind state institutions, are now under fire.

The line between democratic order and institutional chaos is seriously broken. SEP calls for urgent depoliticization of state awards and accountability for the violence being carried out. The fight to preserve the fundamental values of civil society and Montenegro’s European path must not be suffocated by political repression and violence against its own people.

If you think this is just another political story, think again. This is a call to wake up and react. What will Montenegro look like if those who should protect freedom become its greatest enemies? Share your thoughts, maybe you have the solution to this mess!
