Tragedy near Kruševac: Accident or Something More?

A village near Kruševac was shaken by a tragic event yesterday. Goran Stamenković, 52, lost his life after being run over by a car driven by S.R., 48. But hold on, witnesses say it wasn’t murder — just a tragic accident! Or was it?

According to eyewitnesses, S.R. was visibly drunk that day and was holding a knife. He was reportedly waving the knife around and was completely out of control. Goran tried to run away but unfortunately was hit by the car. Shockingly, Goran’s son, who is currently serving a prison sentence, was released for four days to attend his father’s funeral. He told the police he does not want to press charges against S.R. because he knows his father often caused trouble when drunk and it wasn’t the first time he waved a knife around the village.

The villagers agree — S.R. had no intention to kill Goran. They say he is a calm, honest man, while Goran was a “ticking time bomb” due to his alcohol problems and aggressive behavior. Apparently, the day before, Goran attacked a local woman with a knife, which the police confirmed.

The investigation is ongoing, and the prosecution has not yet decided whether S.R. will be charged with a serious traffic offense resulting in death or if the case will be classified differently. The villagers have started a petition to release S.R. from custody, claiming he did not intend to harm Goran and that it was all an accident.

This tragedy raises many questions about violence, alcoholism, and safety in small communities. Is this really just an accident, or is there something darker beneath the surface? How can the community deal with such problems?
