Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7: Foldable Phone Revolution or Just an Expensive Gimmick?

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 is finally here, bringing what we’ve all been waiting for – thinner bezels, bigger screens, and a powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. But is this really a revolution or just another expensive gadget most of us will only watch from the sidelines? Let’s break it down.

Thinner, lighter, but still pricey

Samsung has slimmed down the phone to just 8.9 mm when folded and 4.2 mm when unfolded. For comparison, last year’s model was thicker at 12.1 mm folded and 5.6 mm unfolded. The weight dropped to 255 grams, lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra which has only one screen. Yet, the battery remains at 4400 mAh, impressive for such a slim device.

Screens that grab attention

The outer screen is now bigger – 6.5 inches with an FHD Dynamic AMOLED panel and a 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate. The main screen grew by 11% and is now a massive 8 inches with a peak brightness of 2000 nits. Sounds like a dream for big screen lovers, but is it practical? The phone remains comfortable to hold, which is a big plus.

Camera that brings tears of joy

The main camera now boasts 200 MP – a first for the Galaxy Z series. That means four times more detail and 44% brighter photos compared to its predecessor. There’s also a 12 MP ultrawide and a 10 MP telephoto lens, while the front camera has 10 MP for group selfies. Samsung clearly wanted this phone to be a pocket studio, not just a phone.

AI and performance that soar

Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, it delivers 41% better NPU performance, 38% CPU, and 26% GPU improvements over the previous model. AI features are enhanced, including generative photo and video editing, automatic removal of passersby and noise, and a multimodal AI agent that understands what you write, say, and see on the screen.

Price? Brace your wallets

The base model with 256 GB and 12 GB RAM costs a staggering 239,999 dinars, while versions with 512 GB and 1 TB storage go up to 299,999 dinars. Yes, you read that right – this isn’t a phone for everyone, but for those who love to show off and have deep pockets.

Is it worth every penny?

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 is an impressive piece of technology. Thinner, lighter, with huge screens and cameras that can replace a professional camera. But is that enough to justify the price? Or is this just another example of tech giants pushing us to spend fortunes on phones most of us can’t afford?

If you love innovation and have the cash, this phone is for you. If not, maybe wait for the next generation or settle for something less extravagant. What do you think? Is the Galaxy Z Fold7 a true revolution or just an expensive gimmick? Drop a comment, let’s see who’s in and who’s out!
