Hellish Fires in Toplica District: Flames Devouring Thousands of Hectares and Destroying Homes

Hellish fires in the Toplica district are not just ordinary flames – they are a full-blown disaster that devoured hundreds of buildings and thousands of hectares of fertile land in just two days. In Žitorađa, Blace, Kuršumlija, and Prokuplje, a state of emergency was declared as the fire spared nothing. Residents panicked, evacuating the elderly and sick, while brave firefighters and locals fought to save what they could. But the wind was stronger – the fire spread faster than tractors, and a wood processing factory in the village of Vlajna was completely destroyed. More than ten houses and auxiliary buildings were lost, and domestic animals had no chance. All this happened after two months without rain, and the expected rain barely offers hope. Firefighters worked nonstop for over 24 hours, and the situation in Kosovo and Metohija is also alarming, with 41 reported fires, 14 still active. Is this just a natural disaster or something more? As the land burns and people lose everything, we ask – where is the help, and why do such catastrophes keep happening? If you have similar stories or think it’s time for serious action, drop a comment. Let the voices of those losing their homes and land be heard!
