Fires Ravage Serbia: Homes Burning, Police Warn of Million Fines and Deadly Panic

Fires are raging across Serbia, and the situation is dire! Several areas, including Prokuplje, Žitorađa, Kuršumlija, and the Toplica district, have declared a state of emergency. Dozens of houses and auxiliary buildings have already burned down, and the fiery disaster is not sparing forests, fields, or even landfills. The Serbian Ministry of Interior (MUP) is not only urging citizens to follow safety measures but also threatening fines up to one million dinars for the irresponsible! Are you ready to face this blazing catastrophe, or will you wait for the fire to reach your doorstep?

The first step is to clear the area around your house – MUP advises removing low vegetation, dry grass, leaves, and branches within a 20-meter radius. Do not allow branches to touch your walls, roofs, or balconies! When the fire approaches your home, panic is your worst enemy. It is crucial to immediately call the local fire brigade and provide clear information about the fire’s location. Evacuation should be a last resort and only carried out if absolutely necessary, following the directions of the authorities.

Do you know how to use fire extinguishers? MUP explains there are two types: S-extinguishers with dry powder and CO2 extinguishers with carbon dioxide. The first is for solid and flammable materials, while the second is best for electrical installations. And remember – an unextinguished cigarette is the most common cause of forest fires! Never throw cigarette butts from a moving vehicle and always put them out properly.

The situation is serious, and the fire spares no one. As Serbia battles these fiery disasters, citizens are called to be cautious and responsible. Are you ready to protect your home, or will you wait for the fire to take everything? Share your experience or tips in the comments – maybe your story will save a life!
