Police in Ćuprija Arrest Two with 200 Kilograms of Cut Tobacco!
Have you heard about the latest police operation in Serbia? In Ćuprija, two people, A.P. (30) and M.P. (27) from Šabac, were arrested after police found a staggering 200 kilograms of cut tobacco in their vehicle! Yes, you read that right – 200 kilograms! Enough tobacco to light up an entire neighborhood.
What happened?
The Jagodina Police Department arrested the suspects for illegal trade of excise goods. They found 20 bags, each containing 5 kilograms of tobacco, which is suspected to be intended for further sale on the black market. The suspects were detained for 48 hours and will be brought before the competent prosecutor’s office.
Why does this matter?
This bust sheds light on the massive black market for tobacco in Serbia. The state loses millions in taxes, and consumers often buy unverified and potentially harmful products.
Tobacco black market – the silent enemy
While the police fight this problem, smugglers don’t back down. This seizure of 200 kilograms is just the tip of the iceberg. Huge money circulates on the black market, and the police catch only small fish while the big players remain elusive.
What do you think?
Is this seizure enough to stop the smuggling wave? Or is it just a show for the public while the real players stay in the shadows? Share your thoughts, maybe you know someone involved in this dark game!
