In Belgrade, during a liturgy at the Monastery of the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos, Patriarch Porfirije delivered a sharp and clear message: you cannot serve God and Mammon, or the devil, at the same time. There are only two paths in life – a life with Christ or a life without Christ. No middle ground, no shades of gray. Every person chooses either Christ or Mammon, and that choice defines their entire life.
The Patriarch emphasized that this choice is like a mirror that measures everything else in our lives – whether our heart and mind are dark or light, whether we live in lies or truth. If the heart is blessed and enlightened by God’s love, then we will clearly see what truly matters and what doesn’t. He pointed out that inner spiritual health is the result of the quality of our relationship with God, and this relationship is most clearly reflected in our interpersonal relationships.
This message comes at a time when society faces many challenges, and Patriarch Porfirije leaves no room for compromise between the spiritual and material worlds. His words are a call for a clear choice and a life aligned with God’s love and truth.
The liturgy was co-served by Bishop Nikon of Jenopolje, further underscoring the significance of this event in the Serbian Orthodox Church.
