Blueberries, which have produced a solid yield and exceptional quality this year, are now under threat from climate disasters. Despite having irrigation systems, dry air and intense sunlight are killing flower buds. This means next season could be a disaster! Farmers from northern Mačva and Zasavica are already feeling the impact. Blueberries destined for export to the European Union are now at risk.
This isn’t just a one-year problem. Last year’s severe droughts already showed how serious the situation is. And meteorologists predict even more hellish temperatures ahead. Will our orchards survive? Will we soon see empty shelves instead of our favorite fruits?
Blueberries are known as extremely healthy and popular fruits. But if solutions aren’t found, they could soon become a luxury. Farmers are pleading for help and attention because without them, there are no fruits.
