Belgrade was the scene of two separate traffic accidents last night, leaving four people with minor injuries and emergency services stretched to their limits. Throughout the night, emergency teams responded to a total of 12 incidents in public places, with most calls coming from chronic patients such as asthmatics and hypertensives, as well as psychiatric patients.
But wait, there’s more! In another incident, a 14-year-old boy suffered a concussion in an accident on Kneza Miloša street, while a 50-year-old man was lightly injured as a pedestrian near the Law Faculty. Emergency services carried out 23 interventions during the night, mostly involving intoxicated individuals.
Clearly, Belgrade at night is no place for the faint-hearted. Traffic accidents, chronic illnesses, and drunken passersby make the night hours in the capital a real challenge for emergency services. Is this just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to traffic safety and public health issues?
While emergency teams battle these challenges, citizens are left wondering: where is the system? How can such accidents be prevented and the number of interventions reduced? Maybe it’s time to seriously address the problems lurking on Belgrade’s streets at night.
If you have a wild story from Belgrade’s streets or think you know how to fix this mess, feel free to drop a comment. Let’s hear the voice of the people, because clearly, emergency services can’t handle the night chaos alone!
