Storm Chaos in Budapest: Airport Closed, Trains Halted!

Budapest is in total chaos! Due to a fierce storm, Liszt Ferenc Airport is completely closed. Planes can neither land nor take off. Parts of the airport are flooded, and evacuation was necessary. Although the roof did not collapse, the fire alarm system was damaged, and rain flooded part of the terminal. The runways are a mess — tons of debris and trash are blocking normal operations. Cleaning has started, but there’s no word yet on when traffic will resume.

And that’s not all! Eight out of eleven main railway lines in the country are shut down due to damage to overhead power lines. Trains are stopped, and passengers are being transported by buses. The Hungarian meteorological service issued orange and red warnings for several counties due to the risk of severe thunderstorms, gusty winds, and even hail. This storm isn’t just rain — it’s a full-on meteorological nightmare that paralyzed transport and sparked panic.

If you thought this was the end, think again! Such weather disasters can last and bring even more trouble. Stay prepared, keep an eye on the forecast, and don’t forget your umbrella — or maybe a boat!
