Arrests in Montenegro: Kavač Clan and Corruption Network Under Fire

Big Bust in Montenegro: Kavač Clan and Corruption Network Under Fire!

Ready for another jaw-dropping crime saga? Yesterday, Žarko Vukadinović (40), a man from Podgorica allegedly tied to the notorious Kavač clan, was arrested at Tivat airport the moment he landed from abroad. This arrest is just the tip of the iceberg in a massive operation launched by Montenegro’s Special State Prosecutor’s Office early Wednesday morning, which has already taken down several high-ranking security officials.

Who got caught?

Alongside Vukadinović, the net caught Marko Drobnjak, head of the security department in Danilovgrad, Podgoričanin Mato Knežević, ACG controller Goran Čulić, and Ivan Popović, director of the company Pro Imel. All are suspected of forming a criminal group and abusing their official positions.

The Kavač clan connection

The Special Prosecutor’s Office claims they are all part of a network linked to the fugitive N.V., who is closely connected to Milan Vujotić — considered a high-ranking member of the infamous Kavač clan. Vujotić’s name first hit the media on February 15, when an explosive device was detonated under his car in Podgorica while he was at a nearby café with his family. That same day, he mysteriously fled Montenegro and has been missing ever since.

An eight-year clan war

Interestingly, February 15 also marked the start of the brutal war between the Kavač and Škaljari clans, a conflict raging for eight years and claiming over 50 lives. The first victim was Goran Radoman from Cetinje, close to the Škaljari clan, who was killed in New Belgrade while entering an underground garage.

Legal moves and custody

Drobnjak and Knežević are already in custody, while Čulić and Popović initially received lighter measures. However, after an appeal by the Special Prosecutor’s Office, the Higher Court upgraded their measures to detention. The investigation is ongoing, and sources hint at more arrests to come.

What does this mean?

This crackdown shines a harsh light on deep-rooted corruption and crime in Montenegro, where criminal groups brazenly infiltrate state structures. Will justice finally put an end to these dangerous criminals, or will the network just repack and keep running dirty business?

Conclusion

As Montenegro battles these criminal clans, ordinary citizens remain trapped in a web of violence and corruption. This story isn’t just about arrests — it’s about a systemic problem demanding urgent and decisive action.

So, what do you think about these arrests? Is this the end or just the start of a new crime saga? Drop your thoughts — let’s see who’s cheering and who’s jeering, and who might be next on the list!
