Kyiv’s Revenge: Elimination of Putin’s Agents After Colonel Voronich’s Assassination
Kyiv has shown its teeth and brutally retaliated after the assassination of Colonel Ivan Voronich, head of special operations of Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU). Two individuals, a man and a woman, belonging to a Russian FSB special operations group, were eliminated in a special SBU operation. These two were suspected of the assassination of Voronich, who was killed in Kyiv after being shot five times with a suppressed pistol.
Voronich was a key operative, planning sensitive missions aimed at weakening the Russian war machine and putting Vladimir Putin in an awkward position. His killing sparked a storm of reactions, with pro-Russian sources quickly praising the assassination as a major blow to Ukraine.
However, the SBU did not stand idle. This morning, a special operation was carried out in which FSB agents previously inserted into Ukraine were arrested. According to the SBU general-lieutenant, thanks to secret investigative work and counterintelligence operations, the enemy hideout was located and arrest measures were implemented.
This elimination is reportedly part of a revenge action personally ordered by Putin after he was humiliated in June by the spectacular success of the Ukrainian operation “Spider Web,” which destroyed Russian warplanes worth £5.2 billion.
Colonel Voronich, aged 50, was killed on the spot in Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi district. Footage from the scene shows the moment of the assassination, while the masked killer fled the scene. The woman involved in the assassination was previously identified as Nar Guliyeva, while the man’s identity was not immediately revealed.
Pro-Russian media report that Voronich was part of an elite Ukrainian secret unit conducting operations inside Russia, and one pro-Russian propaganda channel even praised the assassination as a “big target.”
This situation further escalates the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, showing that the war is not only on the front lines but also in the shadows, where deadly games of espionage and revenge are played.
