Reckless Driver, Stolen Opel, and a Heart-Stopping Drama in Belgrade’s Center!
Have you ever seen life change in a split second? On a Sunday afternoon, right in the heart of Belgrade, a real-life movie scene unfolded — but without a happy ending. A reckless driver, who stole an Opel Corsa, caused chaos on the streets, injuring at least three people, including two young girls.
The Unsung Hero Mile Bajić, a bartender from the café right where it all happened, was the first to rush to help. “I heard a loud crash, ran out, and saw a girl lying on the pedestrian crossing. I immediately moved her off the street and helped others,” says Mile, still shaken.
The girl, about 13 years old, was trapped under the car, crying and trembling. Her younger sister lay motionless, unconscious. Despite police warnings not to touch anything, Mile and other citizens lifted the car with their hands and saved the girl’s life. The ambulance arrived quickly and took the injured to the hospital.
Family in Shock The father of the children was stuck in the vehicle, frozen in shock, while the mother suffered minor injuries. Mile says his hands still tremble from the sight and he can barely speak. “I hope the kids will be okay,” adds the brave young man.
Reckless Driver Arrested! The police acted fast and arrested 28-year-old K.P., suspected of unauthorized use of someone else’s vehicle. According to unofficial information, he stole the car in Borča, and when the police spotted him, he tried to flee through Belgrade.
At the intersection of Takovska Street, a real drama unfolded. Besides the injured, the stolen car was damaged. A taxi driver who witnessed the cinematic chase described how the reckless driver first hit his car, then tried to escape the police.
What Does This Tell Us? This accident is not just another incident. It’s a wake-up call for all of us — recklessness and irresponsibility on the roads can destroy lives in an instant. While the police do their job, citizens like Mile are the true heroes of the day, showing that humanity still exists in the darkest moments.
If you thought scenes like this only happen in movies, think again. Life in Belgrade can be dangerous, and sometimes the courage of ordinary people is the only thing that can save lives.
So, what about you? Would you have the guts to lift a car and save a life? Or just stand there and watch? Drop a comment, share your thoughts, or tell a similar story — let’s see how many of us are still Mile out there!
