Chaos erupted this morning at the College of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Belgrade! Students who had been blocking the school for days were finally kicked out. Ana Savić, president of the Academy of Technical and Artistic Vocational Studies, said staff came to work as usual and must provide students with all necessary documents — from dorm confirmations and loans to diploma duplicates. All this was impossible during the blockade.
The students blocked the school, threatened other students, and even parents called Ana Savić in panic. She described how the head of the student service came with a student’s mother, hands raised, begging the blockers to let them work. A meeting with the blockers was held on July 11 but ended without any agreement.
Although classes and exam periods were held, and entrance exams for undergraduate studies completed, the situation remains tense. Ana Savić emphasized that online classes ended on May 11, and the second enrollment period is set for July 28. This all points to serious problems in the school’s functioning and student rights.
Is this just the tip of the iceberg of student protests or a sign of deeper issues in the education system? Share your thoughts — maybe you know what’s really going on behind the scenes of this drama!
