Boat Fire Near Zemun: Two Hospitalized with Burns

A night on the Danube near Zemun turned into a blazing nightmare when the engine part of a boat caught fire, sending two passengers to the hospital with burns! Yes, you read that right – just two hours before firefighters arrived, four people on the boat experienced a night to remember, but definitely not for good reasons. The fire broke out around 9 PM near the “Venecija” restaurant on the Danube’s shore, and the boat’s engine literally went up in flames! Although firefighters responded quickly, the damage was done – two people were hospitalized with burns, while the others luckily escaped unharmed.

This incident shines a harsh light on the serious dangers of boat fires, especially during summer months when the Danube is packed with tourists and recreational boaters. Was it a technical malfunction or human carelessness? That remains unclear, but the fact is the fire endangered lives and caused panic on the shore.

Meanwhile, emergency services in Belgrade were busy with 25 interventions overnight, including three people with minor injuries in three separate traffic accidents. But nothing could overshadow the drama of the Danube boat fire.

This event reminds us how crucial it is to follow safety rules on the water and be prepared for the unexpected. Will authorities finally step up inspections and preventive measures on the rivers? Or will we keep watching such accidents unfold?
