Dramatic Police Chase in Belgrade Ends in Serious Crash Injuring Five

The street of March 27 in Belgrade turned into a movie-like scene of chaos when a police chase for a suspect who stole a vehicle ended in a serious traffic accident. Five people, including an 11-year-old child, were injured, and the driver who caused the chaos did not have a driver’s license! Yes, you read that right – no license, no mercy, and running a red light like it was a Formula 1 race. It all happened in the very center of Belgrade, on Takovska Street, where the driver, trying to escape the police, ran a red light and hit four vehicles stopped at a traffic light, causing a massive pile-up. Deputy Chief of Traffic Police Bojan Radovanović warns that such chases are extremely risky and are conducted only when there is no other option, but the price here was too high. Five people were injured, including a child who suffered serious injuries, while the others sustained minor injuries and were treated in hospital. The police reacted immediately, took all legally prescribed measures, and cooperate with the prosecution, but the question remains – how many such situations could have been avoided? Speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, using a mobile phone while driving, and disobeying traffic rules remain the main causes of accidents. With as many as 62 average speed measurement points and numerous radars, the police claim to have the capacity to control traffic, but is it enough? This chase and accident are yet another alarm for all of us – road safety is not a game, and the consequences of untimely reactions can be catastrophic. If you thought police chases were just exciting scenes from movies, think again – in Belgrade, they have become a reality with real victims. And you, next time you see a police siren, ask yourself – was it worth it? If you have similar stories or opinions, drop a comment, maybe together we can find a solution to this traffic madness!
