The first plane carrying migrants landed in Guantanamo Bay as part of the U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration campaign to curb illegal immigration. The C-17 aircraft took off from El Paso, Texas, with ten migrants suspected to be members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua. The migrants will not be housed with the existing detainees in Guantanamo, and their protection will be provided by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Trump signed an order expanding the capacity for migrants.
Trump sends migrants to Guantanamo, not with prisoners.
