Environmental Crime in Montenegro: New Specialized Unit Takes on the Invisible Enemy!
Did you know that a real environmental drama is unfolding in Montenegro, and most of us don’t even notice? Gravel exploitation, illegal and reckless logging, thefts in national parks, destruction of biodiversity, and even corruption as a special form of environmental crime – all these cause immeasurable negative consequences for our environment.
What’s going on?
In northern Montenegro, where nature still breathes freely, things are happening that should alarm us all. Investigators and police have joined forces to fight this modern security challenge. Damjan Ćulafić, Director of the Police Administration, together with Danilo Šaranović and Lazar Šćepanović, discussed forming a specialized team that will exclusively focus on combating environmental crime.
Why does it matter?
Environmental crime is not just about protecting nature – it’s a matter of state and societal security. The enormous economic and ecological damage caused by this crime is immeasurable. Illegal resource exploitation and corruption threaten not only nature but also our future.
Who’s behind the initiative?
Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinator of the Bureau for Operational Coordination of Intelligence and Security Sector Bodies, Aleksa Bečić, emphasized the importance of forming this organizational unit. This specialized team would improve the systemic response to the increasingly pronounced modern security challenge.
What’s next?
At the end of the meeting, all participants agreed on the need for intensive joint action by all state bodies, as well as active involvement of the NGO sector and public information. Only then can full attention be devoted to this important issue and environmental crime stopped before it’s too late.
Conclusion
Environmental crime in Montenegro is a serious problem requiring urgent and decisive action. Forming a specialized team is a step in the right direction, but without support from all of us, from state institutions to ordinary citizens, this fight will not be successful.
So, dear readers, what do you think? Will this new unit manage to stop the plundering of nature, or is it just another empty story? Drop a comment, share your thoughts, and remember – nature can’t wait!
