Highway Hell in Croatia: 16 Kilometer Traffic Jams and Total Chaos at Lučko!

Welcome to the heart of Croatian traffic hell! This morning brought total chaos on the highways to the coast, with the epicenter of madness at the Lučko toll station, where a traffic jam stretched a staggering 16 kilometers! Yes, you read that right — 16 kilometers of barely moving vehicles. By 2 PM, the line shrank slightly to 13 kilometers, but it’s still a nightmare for drivers. By 3 PM, the situation improved somewhat, but delays between Lučko and Bosiljevo remain. In the opposite direction, towards Zagreb, there’s a one-kilometer queue at the Demerje toll. On the A1 highway between Zagreb and Ploče, traffic is slow with occasional stops. On the A2 between Zagreb and Macelj, the queue at the Trakošćan toll is about 2 kilometers. Traffic is especially heavy towards the Krk Bridge, causing jams heading to the island. Weather conditions are mostly favorable, but the Croatian Auto Club (HAK) urges drivers to be patient, adjust speed, and drive carefully.

Is this the new normal? Will we ever escape this traffic nightmare? If you were on the road today, you know exactly what we mean. If not, just wait — soon this line will greet you too. Share your traffic horror stories in the comments; maybe we’ll laugh or cry together over the fate of our highways!
