Israel Supports Croatian Demands for Electoral Reform in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Israel has thrown its weight behind Croatia’s demands for electoral reform in Bosnia and Herzegovina, confirmed Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić Radman after a Brussels meeting with Israeli counterpart Gideon Saar. Saar expressed deep understanding of the unequal position of Croats in Bosnia and emphasized the importance of respecting the Dayton Agreement and the need to reform the electoral law to ensure legitimate representation of all three constituent peoples. Grlić Radman also held talks with Palestinian Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekian and Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, expressing concern over the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, while Croatia has sent nearly three million euros in humanitarian aid since the conflict began. Croatia supports a two-state solution as the outcome of the peace process between Israel and Palestine. This Israeli backing of Croatia’s stance on Bosnia’s electoral law comes at a time of ongoing regional tensions, with the issue of Croat equality in BiH remaining crucial for the country’s stability. This diplomatic support could have significant implications for future political processes in Bosnia, especially in the context of European integration and regional stability.
