Flooding at Infectious Diseases Clinic Due to Water Pipe Burst in Zagreb

This morning, Zagreb was thrown into chaos due to a burst DN150 water pipe on Zmajevac street! Water flooded the basement of the Infectious Diseases Clinic on Rockefeller street, reaching a height of 10 centimeters. The water flowed down the slope towards the clinic building, threatening technical rooms and the wardrobe. Firefighters and police responded immediately, setting up barriers and redirecting the water flow, while pumps were used to remove the water. Repairs were completed around noon, and in the meantime, potable water was supplied to consumers via water tankers. Clinic director Alemka Markotić emphasized that patients were not endangered and hospital operations were not interrupted, but damage to equipment is still unknown. Zagreb Holding stated that any damage will be covered by insurance. Incidents like this highlight how fragile our city’s infrastructure is and how quickly chaos can erupt. Imagine if such flooding happened in a less equipped facility! Is anyone really prepared for such situations? Or will we keep waiting for something terrible to happen before we act? If you have similar experiences or thoughts on the state of city infrastructure, feel free to drop a comment – maybe together we can find a solution or at least a good topic for discussion!
