Craftsmen Demand Full Pension Payment While Working: Revolution or Justice for Retirees?

Here’s a hot topic that’s about to blow your mind and spark some fiery debates! The Croatian Chamber of Crafts (HOK) has stepped up for retirees who want to keep working while receiving their full pension. Yes, you read that right – not half, but the whole pension! Currently, our hardworking retired craftsmen who continue to work only get 50% of their pension. HOK says: enough is enough! They demand a change to allow full old-age pension payments during work because the experience, knowledge, and work habits gained over decades are priceless, and the state should reward, not punish them.

Imagine this – 40% of HOK members run their craft business alongside employment, and this number is growing every day. However, the law puts them at a disadvantage because they cannot receive their full pension while working, which is unfair compared to those working in trading companies or for other employers. Because of this, many retirees give up working since setting up a legal entity is complicated and discouraging.

HOK emphasizes that paying full pensions while working would be a huge incentive for longer participation in the workforce, benefiting both the state and society by increasing tax and contribution revenues. HOK’s president, Dalibor Kratohvil, clearly states it’s time to allow retirees to continue working and receive full pensions because they are the backbone of the economy and shouldn’t be pushed into retirement just because the law says so.

So, is this the start of a revolution in retirees’ rights or just a logical step toward justice? If you’re a retiree wanting to keep working or just someone who believes in fairness, it’s time to join the conversation. Who knows, maybe you have the solution to this problem! And if not, at least drop a comment and share your thoughts – should the state support retirees working or push them into passivity? Don’t stay silent because this is a topic that affects us all!
