Attack on Miloš Vučević’s House: Crossing the Lines of Normalcy!

Is this the end of democracy or just another day in Serbia? The attack on the family home of Miloš Vučević, president of the Serbian Progressive Party and mayor of Novi Sad, has sparked a wave of condemnation and shocked the nation. Protesters, known as “blockaders,” decided to threaten the safety of the family of one of the most influential politicians in the country through violence and intimidation. The Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, Ivica Dačić, Marko Đurić, and many others have clearly said: “Enough is enough!” Violence is not the way, and political differences must be resolved in institutions, not on the streets.

What happened? Protesters blocked the street in Novi Sad where Vučević lives, calling for lynching and endangering the safety of his family. Prime Minister Đuro Macut emphasized that this is a red line that no one should cross. “No one has the right to threaten the safety of children and families,” he said. Deputy Prime Minister Ivica Dačić condemned this act as an attempt to provoke civil war and hypocrisy of those who cry when their homes are threatened but do the same to others.

Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petković, called the attack on Vučević’s home an attack on every honorable Serbian family. Novi Sad Mayor Žarko Mićin warned of an unprecedented hate action and called for restraint from rhetoric that further fuels tensions. Defense Minister Bratislav Gašćarić described the protesters as a “container revolution” without ideas, only with the desire to destroy and destabilize Serbia.

This attack is not just an attack on one man but on the foundations of democracy and security in Serbia. Will we allow violence and hatred to become the norm in political struggle? Or will we stand together and say: “Enough is enough!”
