POLITICAL DRAMA AROUND ENERGOPROJEKT: Mesarović, Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia and Minister of Economy, fiercely denies the “malicious claims” by the New DSS party regarding the sale of real estate of the company Energoprojekt. “Yet another lie from those trying to destroy our country!” Mesarović declared on her Instagram account, calling the allegations a crude political manipulation and malicious misinformation of the public.
The truth, she says, is that the Ministry of Economy proposed a government conclusion, adopted on July 10, in which Serbia expressed opposition to decisions made at the extraordinary shareholders’ meeting of Energoprojekt. The representative of the Republic of Serbia voted against the adoption of these decisions on July 15, in accordance with the government conclusion.
Mesarović emphasizes that the state clearly shows determination to prevent non-transparent deals that could harm the public interest. “New DSS tries to cover up its own political responsibility for the catastrophic privatization carried out in the 2000s, which led to the closure of hundreds of factories and the loss of over half a million jobs,” she reminded.
Today, the state leads a responsible and transparent economic policy, in accordance with Serbian laws, and does not participate in suspicious deals. The Ministry of Economy will continue to protect public interests and fight against political attempts to undermine them.
New DSS has demanded that state authorities urgently announce whether they will oppose the “seizure” of the property of the construction company Energoprojekt, specifically land in New Belgrade, and requested the Ministry of Economy to disclose the instructions given to state representatives at the shareholders’ meeting, where the state holds a minority stake of 33.8%.
