Chile was hit today by a strong earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale, the Chilean National Seismological Center reported. The earthquake was registered in the Pacific Ocean, about 65 kilometers off the coast near the city of Chañaral, with an epicenter at a depth of 33 kilometers. There are no reports of material damage or injuries so far.
