Brutal Attack on Actor Dragan Maksimović Maksa and Its Consequences

Actor Dragan Maksimović Maksa was brutally attacked 25 years ago by hooligans who, due to his darker skin, mistakenly identified him as a member of the Roma community. The attack happened after a lost football match, and Maksimović died two months later in a coma from severe injuries. The restaurant owner where the attack took place did not help, and the attackers were never identified. A memorial plaque has been placed at the site of the incident in honor of the actor.

Political Perspectives:

Left: Left-leaning reports emphasize the racial motivation behind the attack, highlighting issues of racism and discrimination against minorities, particularly the Roma community. They focus on the failure of authorities to identify and prosecute the attackers and criticize societal indifference to hate crimes.

Center: Center-leaning coverage presents the facts of the attack and its tragic consequences, focusing on the timeline of events and the lack of justice for the victim. It highlights the human tragedy and the need for better protection against hate crimes without strong political framing.

Right: Right-leaning narratives may focus on the hooliganism aspect, linking the attack to social disorder and youth violence, sometimes downplaying the racial motivation. They may emphasize law and order and the importance of addressing hooliganism and public safety.
