Joint Initiative to Defend Solana Bajo Sekulić and Return it to State Ownership

The president of the civic movement URA, Dritan Abazović, called on the government and parliamentary majority for a joint initiative to defend Solana Bajo Sekulić in Ulcinj and return this area to state ownership. Abazović criticized the administrative court’s decision, which he deemed illegal, emphasizing that he will not allow Montenegro’s natural resources to be unlawfully exploited. He highlighted the significant value and size of the area and stated that the previous privatization was harmful and illegal. The initiative has the support of URA and calls for joint action with European partners to ensure better management of the area.

Political Perspectives:

Left: Left-leaning outlets emphasize the protection of public resources and environmental conservation, highlighting the need to reverse privatization that benefited elites and harmed the public interest. They support the call for state ownership and criticize past corrupt practices.

Center: Center-leaning sources focus on the legal and administrative aspects of the case, discussing the court’s decision and the importance of transparent governance. They present the initiative as a pragmatic step towards better management and cooperation with European partners.

Right: Right-leaning perspectives may stress the importance of property rights and caution against excessive state intervention. They might question the efficiency of state ownership and emphasize the need for private sector involvement, though in this case, the right-leaning narrative is less prominent or critical of past privatization irregularities.
