Next Round of Russia US Consultations to be Held in Moscow

The next round of consultations between Russia and the United States will be held in Moscow in the near future, following preliminary progress made during previous talks in Istanbul aimed at normalizing diplomatic relations. Russian Ambassador to Washington Alexander Darchiev emphasized that there is still a long way to go before full normalization of relations, hindered by opponents in the US, including the so-called deep state and hawks in Congress. The talks focus on removing irritants in bilateral relations, including easing visa restrictions and returning diplomatic property. Although some progress has been made, the process remains difficult and reversible. These diplomatic contacts occur amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and tensions between Moscow and the West.

Political Perspectives:

Left: Left-leaning outlets emphasize the importance of diplomatic engagement and dialogue between Russia and the US as a positive step towards reducing tensions and avoiding further escalation. They highlight the challenges posed by hardliners in the US and the complexity of normalizing relations amid the Ukraine conflict.

Center: Centrist sources report the facts of the ongoing consultations, noting the preliminary progress and the difficulties ahead. They present balanced coverage of the diplomatic efforts, the obstacles from political factions in the US, and the broader geopolitical context including the Ukraine war.

Right: Right-leaning media focus on the challenges posed by the so-called ‘deep state’ and anti-Russian lobby in the US Congress, framing the diplomatic talks as hindered by internal US politics. They may also emphasize Russia’s firm stance and readiness to respond to provocations, portraying the talks as a strategic move rather than a sign of weakness.
