Ukraine and Slovakia are in a dispute over gas transit.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Slovak ambassador for talks regarding Bratislava’s statements about alleged Ukrainian interference in Slovakia’s internal affairs. The deputy minister expressed disappointment that Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico acts as a “spokesperson for the Kremlin” and criticized Slovakia’s dependence on Russian energy resources. Ukraine called on Slovakia to end such practices and return to constructive dialogue. The Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs also summoned the Ukrainian ambassador over the comments.
