Plane’s black boxes found in Potomac River for study.

The black boxes from the American Airlines plane, which were retrieved from the Potomac River after a collision with a military helicopter, are currently at NTSB laboratories for examination. The NTSB announced that two black boxes were recovered from the wreckage, and member Tod Inman expressed confidence that the data would be recovered. One air traffic controller was managing both local and helicopter traffic, which is unusual. The FAA’s preliminary report cites a staffing shortage. The NTSB is conducting an investigation.
