The Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Bijelo Polje has filed an indictment against Alija Balijagić for the serious murder of his brother and sister, as well as for illegal possession of weapons. On October 25 last year, in Sokolac, Balijagić shot and killed Jovan and Milenka Madžgalj with a hunting rifle. Prior to this, the police were searching for him for stealing hunting rifles. After the double murder, an extensive manhunt involving Serbian and Montenegrin police ensued, and Balijagić was arrested after 27 days in hiding. During the investigation, weapons used in the crime were found, and Balijagić was known for fleeing and hiding in surrounding villages.
