The Government of Serbia announced that the Rector of the University of Belgrade, Prof. Dr. Vladan Đokić, was not invited to the Prime Minister’s meeting with rectors of other universities held on Friday. The meeting between the Prime Minister and Rector Đokić took place earlier in the week, and reports about his absence from the meeting with other rectors are false and malicious. The government emphasizes that media inaccuracies unnecessarily raise tensions in society, especially at a time when a plan for the completion of the academic year and enrollment of new students has been agreed upon. Meetings were held with rectors of universities in Niš, Novi Sad, Kosovska Mitrovica, Novi Pazar, Kragujevac, and the University of Arts, while a separate meeting was held with the Rector of the University of Belgrade. The government calls for focusing on relevant and accurate information to avoid harm to the state, current and future students, and universities.

They stress the government’s efforts to maintain communication with all universities and the importance of accurate information to prevent unnecessary social tension.
Right: Right-leaning media highlight the government’s official statement to counteract false media reports, portraying the government as organized and in control. They emphasize the importance of unity and stability in the education sector and criticize media outlets for spreading misinformation that could harm the country’s image and disrupt academic progress.
