A Norwegian ship is suspected of damaging a cable at sea.

Norwegian police seized a ship with a Russian crew on suspicion of involvement in the damage to an optical cable between Latvia and Sweden. The ship “Silver Dania” was sailing between St. Petersburg and Murmansk. The seizure was carried out at the request of Latvian authorities, and Latvian media had previously reported that the cable was likely damaged due to external influences. The Latvian navy dispatched a patrol boat to the site of the incident and contacted NATO.
