When a literary book launch turns into a political circus: Radovan Karadžić, better known as the Hague prisoner, promotes his poetry collection “Black Fairy Tale” in an atmosphere more fitting for a political rally than a literary evening. The main speaker, Prof. Dr. Milo Lompar, showed up in a “Šešeljka” shirt with short sleeves, while the audience consisted of personalities rarely seen outside such events. Karadžić’s poetry? A mix of kitsch and trash, but who cares – politics dominated the event. Svetislav Basara described the promotion as a detonation in Belgrade, and Lompar as a “severe case of political idiocy.” Thought literature could be apolitical? Think again! Sound off in the comments – is this literature or just another political performance?
