North Korea Opens Luxury Beach Resort – Kim Bets on Tourism

North Korea is finally opening its “luxury” beach resort in Wonsan, with a capacity of 20,000 visitors and a four-kilometer-long beach, after six years of waiting and numerous delays. Of course, this isn’t your typical tourist paradise – it’s Pyongyang’s attempt to make money while the world keeps an eye on their nuclear program and sanctions. Tourists from Russia and China are currently the lucky ones allowed to enjoy this “paradise,” while Western tourists are still waiting for permission. Kim Jong Un personally attended the opening, marking a big event for a country that has invested in its military for decades, not tourism. Is this the start of a new era or just another trick by the Kim dynasty? Sound off – would you dare vacation in North Korea or is this just more propaganda?
